We are thrilled to announce the upcoming sale dedicated to 19th Century Paintings, which will take place on November 19, 2025, in Florence. This tightly curated selection will include a variety of works realized by some of the most culturally significant italian and international artists.

Among the works to be presented in the sale catalogue, we are particularly proud to feature the painting by Pellizza da Volpedo, Meadows and Hills of the Val CuroneorMeadows and Hills along the Curone, oil on panel, 29x71 cm, signed lower left “P. di Volpedo 1895”, with on the reverse the handwritten inscription “Prato a San Rocco/ore 14 del 14 novembre”.

This is a work that has never before appeared on the market and represents, for collectors, a unique opportunity to acquire one of the first pure landscape paintings executed by the great Piedmontese artist, as noted by Aurora Scotti, scholar of Pellizza, in the catalogue of the exhibition she curated, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, held at the Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Turin in 1999:

“It is one of the first pure landscape paintings, with studies of penumbra and chiaroscuro reflections among bushes and thickets, carried out by Pellizza, with results that the painter must have found quite satisfying, since he deemed it appropriate to have the work photographed inside his studio by Davide Cicala.”

Among the other works in the catalogue, we note a pastel by Giovanni Boldini depicting a young boy, an important painting by Pajetta, Jubilee (1886), a fine view of Burano by Pieretto Bianco, a Portrait of a Sailor by Baccio Maria Bacci, and a painting by Giulio Aristide Sartorio, Mediterranean, executed during the artist’s mission in the Mediterranean Sea in 1929.
