How time goes by: since Pandolfini embarked on its journey into the world of art, luxury and collecting in general back in 1924, a lot has happened. A century of life for a company is a great achievement: it represents the perfect combination of attachment to one's roots and traditions and the ability to interpret and adapt to changing times. And this is what has allowed Pandolfini to reach this very important milestone and, in our small department of Fine Wines and Collector's Wines, to complete its 25th year of auctions.

The catalogue that you are about to read includes, as usual, the best products that the wine market has to offer: from the youngest vintages to the legendary ones, from limited editions to large formats, it will be a three-day event that is sure to capture your curiosity from the first to the last lot (this time there are around 800).

The first session, to be held in the afternoon of 10 April, is deliberately representative of the celebration that this auction and this year mean to us, with more than one hundred lots dedicated to the roi of the holidays: Champagne. All the most famous houses producing the world's best-loved bubbly will be present, from Krug to Bollinger, from Armand de Brignac, with a collector's box, to Selosse, and its famous Lieux Dits selection, up to the region's most recognisable label: Dom Pérignon, with all its special editions, such as the one signed by Lady Gaga, and its various declinations, or Plénitude.

The second day begins with an exclusive event that we are honoured to host in our salons in this special year: a tasting of the world's most famous Italian wine, Sassicaia. Together with the staff of Tenuta San Guido and the Enoteca Pinchiorri, which will take care of the light lunch afterwards, we will offer the press and our most loyal customers an experience to make this year of celebrations even more special.
In the afternoon, we will continue with the sale of wines from our peninsula, opening with a very rich session dedicated again to Sassicaia, with lots from the most recent vintages up to the legendary 1985, with a bottle also in magnum format. We then continue with the other treasures from Tuscany, Piedmont and the other great producing regions: MassetoMonfortinoSolaiaMascarelloGiulio Ferrari. Closing the day was a remarkable selection of Amaroni della Valpolicella wines from Romano Dal Forno and Giuseppe Quintarelli, with bottles of various sizes, including Jéroboam.

The morning of Friday 12 April is also dedicated to great Italian wines, but with a special feature: they all come from a unique collection of an expert in the field who, with care and passion, has put together a wine cellar with some of the main labels of the Bel Paese, which he has honoured us to include in the catalogue for you. From Le Pergole Torte di Montevertine to Giacomo Conterno's Monfortino, from Giuseppe Rinaldi's Barolo magnums to Gianfranco Soldera's 100% Sangiovese, this Single Owner Collection offers you unique bottles with the certainty of provenance and expert preservation.

Closing the catalogue is the session dedicated to foreign wines, with the usual focus on French wines, in particular Bordeaux and Burgundy. The afternoon opens with Château wines, with some real treasures in the bottle, such as the magnum of Haut Brion from 1989, a historic vintage for the region and this producer, or the lots of the very famous Pétrus, always sought after by all wine enthusiasts.

After a brief excursus on New World wines, with several lots of Opus One in their original packaging, we finally reach the much-loved Burgundy and its exclusive domaine: Armand RousseauCoche Duryd'AuvenayLeroy and, with more than 40 lots, Domaine de la Romanée Conti. From the king of the Côte d'Or, we present most of the references, from the great reds, such as RichebourgLa Tâche and Romanée Conti itself, to the very rare whites, with the Montrachet and the latest arrival in the company: the Corton-Charlemagne, with the first vintages produced.

The bottles of this catalogue are the summa of our constant search for the best and our desire to offer customers who have chosen us unique and otherwise unobtainable products; a philosophy that has animated all of Pandolfini's departments for over a century. To paraphrase the final sentence of the masterpiece film that inspired our title: this catalogue is the celebration of a beautiful friendship, born 25 years ago almost as a joke, between Pandolfini and the world of wine.
