The Argenti online auction will present a wide selection of works that the Department has been able to select following the current market trend.
A very interesting nucleus is that of sacred goldsmiths. Altar peaces, holy water stoups, pyxes and ciborium doors will be proposed, all emblematic works of a refined Italian production that characterized the history of sacred goldsmiths from the 18th to the 19th century.
The spotlights will also turn on for the artifacts of Roman workers. In particular, the ewer by the silversmith Carlo Cropanese dating back to around 1750 and the tray, dating back to around 1820, characterized by the engraving with the cardinal's coat of arms.
The history of European silverware, will be well represented by the tray, cutlery and an elegant tureen from 1784 made by the silversmiths Sharp and Smith.
Looking at the twentieth century, we arrive at beginning of the century with the tea and coffee service from the Sant'Elia maker in Milan, an expression of the Deco lines and with the snuffbox by Mario Buccellati inspired by D'Annunzio's mottos.
