FRIENDS OF FLORENCE: BECOME A MAJOR PATRON OF THE ARTS
Opportunity to support the restoration of Andrea del Sarto's detached fresco “La Carità” in the Chiostro dello Scalzo in Florence
The fresco cycle for the Cloister dello Scalzo by Andrea del Sarto, created between 1509 and 1526, is an important treasure depicting the life of St. John the Baptist and four Virtues. Del Sarto was a leading Florentine painter of the early 16th century and a master of the High Renaissance style.
The lot being offered is to support the conservation of the Virtue of “Charity” that appropriately and eloquently speaks to the mission of Friends of Florence. This project would mark the beginning of a new effort to restore the entire Cloister that gave inspiration to numerous artists through the centuries. The donor’s name would be featured on a plaque in the Cloister.
