SCULPTURE OF MANJUSHRI, TIBET, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
In gilt bronze with coral and turquoise inlays, depicting Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, seated in vajraparyankasana on a double lotus base, the right hand raised holding the sword (khadga) and the left supporting the book of the Prajnaparamita upon a lotus stem; tall crown and richly jewelled ornaments; sealed base plate incised with a double vajra (vishvavajra).
