In the world of wine, the shape of the bottle is much more than just a container; it affects the wine's evolution and becomes a tangible expression of the occasion on which it is shared. Each format tells a different story about the relationship between humans, wine and time: the standard bottle is intimate and personal; the magnum is the perfect balance; and large sizes are associated with celebration and longevity.

The FORMA catalogue celebrates this diversity, showcasing everything from classic 75cl bottles to majestic 6-litre Methuselahs — symbols of conviviality, rarity, and timelessness.

The catalogue showcases some of the finest examples of Italian and French terroir, alongside wines from other regions of excellence, offering a comprehensive overview of a boundless oenological mosaic.

The first day, 6 November, is dedicated to France. In the morning, lots from Bordeaux, Champagne and the Rhône Valley, as well as other rarities from the New World, will be auctioned. These include highly prized items such as the 2021 edition Group Duclot case, a 2019 magnum of Pétrus, several vintages of Millésime de Selosse and the renowned Cuvée S from Salon.

The afternoon session is reserved for Burgundy and features the region's most prominent names, including over 30 lots from the iconic Domaine de la Romanée Conti, a symbol of perfection and rarity. This will bring the day to a close.

On the second day, 7 November, we will focus entirely on Italy. In the morning, we will explore Piedmont and other regions, sampling masterpieces from Barbaresco and Barolo, as well as iconic wines from other areas. There will be two remarkable sessions: one dedicated to the wines of Bruno Giacosa, and one dedicated to Giacomo Conterno. The latter will include the latest vintage of Riserva Monfortino, 2019, in Standard, Magnum and Double Magnum formats.

The afternoon will be reserved for Tuscany, showcasing renowned producers and, in particular, large formats. Of particular note is the section dedicated to Sassicaia, with over 40 lots, which celebrates Tuscan excellence and its ability to embody power and elegance. This section features vintages ranging from 2022 to the early 1980s.

FORMA is intended as a tribute to the beauty of proportions and the way in which they encapsulate and amplify time. It is an invitation to contemplate how wine can sometimes become a work of art.

The auction will be held at our Florence headquarters, Palazzo Ramirez-Montalvo. In the weeks leading up to the auction, you will have the opportunity to visit our cellar by appointment. The lots are stored there with the utmost care, and we would be delighted to welcome you and show you the bottles you are interested in.
