A DEHUA BLANC-DE-CHINE PORCELAIN FIGURE OF GUANYIN, CHINA, SEC. XIX–XX, MARKED XU YUNLIN

A monumental blanc-de-Chine porcelain sculpture of Guanyin, standing gracefully on swirling clouds. The figure is dressed in flowing robes with intricate beaded necklaces and an elaborate hair ornament. Her serene facial expression and elegant form demonstrate the masterful craftsmanship of Dehua porcelain. The reverse is marked Xu Yunlin and reflects the artistic legacy passed down from Su Xuejin, a prominent figure in the history of Dehua porcelain.

Xu Yunlin (1887–1940), whose personal name was Jinyong and art name Yunlin, hailed from Tingxi Village, Xunzhong Town, Dehua County. He was a celebrated master in the history of modern Dehua porcelain sculpture, known both in China and abroad. Born into a renowned Shanhu School sculpture family, Xu Youyi’s works were marked by their refined elegance and innovative craftsmanship, contributing significantly to the reputation of Dehua porcelain as one of the finest white porcelains in the world.

晚清民国 十九至二十世纪 德化白釉观音立像 许云麟款

此观音立像，通体施白釉，光润莹泽，观之若冰若玉，乃德化瓷中绝品。立像高 83.5 厘米，观音立于卷云纹底座，姿态肃穆，神情安详，袍袖随风，衣纹层叠，线条起伏，仿佛流动之水，极尽工巧之妙。

观音面目清秀端庄，眉目低垂，含蓄而静穆，发髻高绾，头戴华冠，冠饰纤细入微，配以璎珞项饰，尤显尊贵。袍袖宽松，衣褶自然，繁复而不显冗杂，彰显德化窑艺中流畅灵动之美。卷云底座刻工精致，纹路蜿蜒，衬托观音之圣洁庄严，寓意超凡脱俗。

像背部刻“许云麟”款，表其为德化名匠许云麟所作。许云麟（1887–1940），名进勇，号云麟，德化浔中乡丁溪村人，为德化白瓷雕刻之翘楚，其技艺承苏学金衣钵，又独具匠心，融古法与新意，作品清丽隽永，传世至今，极为珍罕。

此像白釉匀净，质地细腻，光影交错间显露出衣褶转折之精微。整器比例和谐，气韵生动，不失庄严之美，实为德化白瓷雕塑中不可多得之佳品。

Un’imponente scultura in porcellana blanc-de-Chine raffigurante Guanyin in piedi su una base a nuvole ondeggianti. La figura indossa vesti fluenti, collane di perline finemente lavorate e un elaborato ornamento per capelli. L'espressione serena e la forma elegante riflettono la maestria artigianale della porcellana di Dehua. Sul retro è presente il marchio di Xu Yunlin e la scultura si ispira alla tradizione artistica tramandata da Su Xuejin, figura di rilievo nella storia della porcellana di Dehua.

Xu Yunlin (1887–1940), il cui nome personale era Jinyong e il nome d'arte Yunlin, proveniva dal villaggio di Tingxi, nella contea di Dehua. Era un maestro rinomato nella storia moderna della scultura in porcellana di Dehua, noto sia in Cina che all'estero. Nato in una famiglia famosa della scuola Shanhu, Xu Youyi ha contribuito in modo significativo alla reputazione della porcellana di Dehua come una delle più raffinate porcellane bianche del mondo grazie alla sua eleganza raffinata e all’innovativa maestria.
