La Joie du Vin | Pandolfini & Château d’Yquem - 9 April 2026

It was another major success for Pandolfini’s Fine and Collectible Wines department. On Thursday 9 and Friday 10 April, it auctioned the La Joie du Vin catalogue, achieving total sales of €1,140,475 – 170% of the initial estimates – and a clean sweep for the first session. In collaboration with the iconic Château d’Yquem, the auction house began the event with a tasting led by Yquem’s CEO, Lorenzo Pasquini, and Master of Wine, Gabriele Gorelli. This special collaboration, made possible in part by contributions from the négociants of Château Mestrezat and Sarzi Amadè, also enabled several unique lots to be included in the catalogue, which opened the first day of the sale and were notable for their rarity and condition. Of the lots sold, two century-old bottles stood out in particular: a 1937 Yquem, which sold for €16,790, and a 1920 Yquem, which sold for €12,848. The first day was a resounding success, thanks in part to a single-owner collection which achieved a total of €413,106 — 178% of the starting estimates. The top lots included a 2005 Montrachet Domaine Leflaive bottle, which sold for €16,120, and a 2009 Ermitage Cuvée Cathelin Domaine Jean-Louis Chave bottle, which sold for €7,440. France also performed well on the second day. A group of six bottles of Montrachet from Domaine J. C. Ramonet was sold for €16,120, while six magnums of Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château from Domaine Liger-Belair fetched €14,880. Italy also fared well, with a magnum of Barolo Monfortino Riserva from Giacomo Conterno selling for €3,224, 12 bottles of Sassicaia from Tenuta San Guido selling for €3,720, and a six-litre bottle of Masseto from 2017 selling for €7,688.
