HERMES CARRE FOULARD "NAPOLEON"

Dim. cm 90x90

HERMES "NAPOLEON" CARRE SCARF

This carré sums up a large part of the Napoleonic epic on an imprimé fabric. Together with the bees, a symbol of power of Egyptian origin already used by the Merovingians, the most significant moments of Bonaparte's life are represented, together with the objects that still today remember him more than others.

On the right, one recognizes the green uniform of the hunters on horseback, the one that was dearest to him and with which he will be buried in Saint Helena. On the left, the first consul dress that Napoleon will wear at the beginning of this assignment while in the center, framed in the collar of the Legion of Honor, we see the arrival of the carriage at Notre-Dame cathedral on December 2, 1804, the day of his self-coronation as emperor of the French.

At the corners, four medallions framed by laurel wreaths represent (starting from the one on the top left and continuing the reading in a clockwise direction): the passage of the Alps. Taken from David's famous painting; Napoleon to Wagram riding his Arabian horse Aly; Napoleon who distributes the sabers to the grenadiers of the Guard; Napoleon wounded in Ratisbonne.

And still objects that represented a lot for Bonaparte: the flagship signs made by Chander in 1804 with the Imperial eagle, the first consul sword with the ivory and gold hilt garnished at the top by two lion heads, the one he wore when he crowned himself emperor, below the two sabers who accompanied him in the Egyptian countryside. finally, one of his famous black felt hats: this model is from 1807.

Napoleon is said to have commissioned at least one hundred and twenty hats from his official supplier, the Hatter Poupard, from 1800 to 1815, who was replaced the last two years by a new supplier, Mr Menaglier.

HERMES CARRE FOULARD "MEMOIRE D'HERMES"

Dim. cm 90x90.

HERMES "MEMOIRE D'HERMES" CARRE SCARF

In homage to the founder and head of the family, this carré shows in the middle the portrait Thierry Hermès, surrounded by some objects of the Maison. Almost all the objects that are represented there have in turn already been a source of inspiration for other creations, such as the eighteenth-century bag embroidered with lily flowers that we also find in the middle of Les clés carré, the Argentine stirrup of the nineteenth century reproduced on Gaucho, The bolas, also from Argentina, from the beginning of the 20th century, recognizable on the carré Pampa.

In addition to these, we also find many other objects that are part of the collection, such as the book on the training of hunting dogs that belonged to the imperial prince son of Napoleaone III, an artist's palette with an Amazon in the center, a small comb from brass horse, a 17th-century dust horn decorated with hunting scenes.

HERMES CARRE FOULARD "MARINE ET CAVALERIE"

Dim. cm 90x90

HERMES "MARINE ET CAVALERIE" CARRE SCARF

Inspired by a painting by Charles-Louis Mozin, a well-known landscape and marine painter in the first half of the 19th century, the carré represents a singular historical event: the capture of the Dutch fleet, blocked by ice in the port of Helder, near Texel , by a regiment of French hussars in January 1795.

To conduct the operation was Jean-Charles Pichegru, general of the French revolutionary army, who made the Dutch admiral believe that he had the rest of the army behind him, thus obtaining, without bloodshed, the unconditional surrender of the entire fleet . Encouraged by this victory, the general went on to Amsterdam where he entered on January 20 to then occupy all the Netherlands.

Pichegru became a hero of the Revolution but did not have a great career since, in the spring of the same year, he participated in the organization of a conspiracy for the return of Louis XVIII as king of France: he was discovered and deported to Cayenne, from where he fled and fled to London.

In 1803 he returned to lead the realists against the First Consul but, betrayed by a friend, he was arrested again and died in prison, it is not clear whether killed or suicidal.

Pichegru is remembered in the memoirs of Napoleon, who had him as a mathematics teacher at the Military Academy of Brienne-le-Château, and who remembers him as an excellent teacher.

GUCCI BAMBOO BAG SIXTIES

It’s a real icon.
A classic among the classics, which has marked the history of costume since 1954 when for the first time the Bamboo Bag, designed by Gucci, appeared on a movie set in a Ingrid Bergman’s look; the movie was "Viaggio in Italia" by Rosselini and, later, in '66, worn by Vanessa Redgrave in Antonioni’s film "Blow Up".

When also the actress Liz Taylor, in the famous movie “The Hot Cat on the Roof", was immortalized next to Paul Newman, in 1959, wearing the wonderful bag, his resounding success was definitive.

Celebrities’ bag in the '60s, the it-bag became the object of desire, inexorably present under the lights of jet set.
The use of bamboo, an unusual and exotic luxurious material, especially at that time, is the main reason that created its fame.
