A SINGLE-OWNER EXAMPLE OF THE RAREST VOLVO

After the rounded 120 Amazon series, Volvo in 1966 launched the new “100” series, based on the same floorpan but with a new more angular body. It was much more spacious and safe.

The main versions had a sturdy two litre four cylinder engine, but in 1968 Volvo launched a premium version with a new sohc inline six and called it 164. The main external difference was in the front, where a chrome grille was incorporated to make sure everybody knew it was an Executive Express.

The 164 offered today is unique as it has been always owned by the same family: used daily until thirty years ago, it then has been lovingly kept in the family’s villa on Lake Como.

It has less than 120,000 miles, and as everybody who knows these cars could confirm, it is barely run in. The doors close with a vault-like precision, and the body only needs minimal touch-up around the grille and some polish.

The upholstery is like new and the drivetrain runs well tough, obviously, will need attention as it has not been used for many years.

The vehicle is in excellent mechanical condition but for safety reasons, we advise the purchaser to have it checked over and to replace the fluids, filters and perishable elements.
