After his father's death he lived in Florence where he met the architect and future wife Gigliola Gagnoni but soon he moved to Milan. Already since 1955 he exhibited his works in Florence, Milan, Venice, and Rome. He collaborated in the magazine "Il Gesto" and began to make known his work. Together with his brother Arnaldo and artists like Lucio Fontana he presented his works at the exhibitions of the group "Continuità".
