Arman, in the early fifties began to create his first Cachets, abandoning the canvas, and in 1959 Allures, variants of the Cachets, consisting of imprints made on the canvas with a variety of objects previously immersed in color. In the same year he began to create his Colères, compositions of broken objects, especially musical instruments, and his Accumulations, assemblages of consumer or rejection objects. in this phase of transition and change, the objects take shape again on the canvas, still represented with a firm and unmistakable line, like the representation of these violins dated 1961. Interested, from 1961 on, to the decomposition of the subjects through the découpage and focuses his research on numerous bronzes. The artist intends to denounce society and proceeds to "destructions", destructions obtained by force, by fire: violins, pianos, saxophones and various musical instruments.
